What to know

Most procedures are faster and easier than patients expect.

A shave biopsy takes about five minutes. A shave mole removal, about the same. Most patients drive themselves home afterward and are back to their normal day by tomorrow. We'll walk you through everything before we start, and we won't proceed until you feel ready.

Skin Biopsies
When something on your skin looks suspicious — or you just want certainty — a quick shave biopsy gives us a definitive answer, performed in-office with local anesthesia. No sutures are needed.
Pathology results are typically back within 5–7 business days. We call you with results and explain next steps.

How it's done
1. 01
  Examination. Your provider examines the lesion in question, often using dermoscopy for magnified detail. We explain what we see and what we recommend.
2. 02
  Numbing. A small amount of local anesthetic is injected — the only part that stings, and only for a few seconds. After that, you feel pressure but no pain.
3. 03
  Shave biopsy. A thin shave of tissue is taken from the surface of the lesion. The whole procedure takes about five minutes, and there are no sutures.
4. 04
  Wound care. A small bandage is applied. We send the sample to a dermatopathologist with your clinical history attached for accurate diagnosis.
5. 05
  Results. Results are typically back within 5–7 business days. We call you personally with the result and the next step — whether that's reassurance, monitoring, or a treatment plan.

Mole Removal
Shave removal of bothersome, irritated, or cosmetically concerning moles. Quick, in-office, with local anesthesia.

How it's done
1. 01
  Assessment. We evaluate the mole's clinical features — size, color, borders, history of change. If anything looks atypical, we'll recommend biopsy first to confirm before cosmetic removal.
2. 02
  Anesthesia. Local anesthetic is injected into the surrounding skin. After that, the procedure itself is painless.
3. 03
  Shave removal. The raised portion of the mole is shaved cleanly at the level of the surrounding skin. The whole procedure takes about five minutes.
4. 04
  Wound care. A small bandage is applied. No sutures are needed. Keep it dry for 24 hours, then resume normal activity.
5. 05
  Healing. The area heals over 1–2 weeks, with continued fading over the following months. Sun protection during healing is essential.

Skin Cancer Treatment
Non-surgical, in-office treatment of non-melanoma skin cancers — electrodesiccation and curettage (ED&C), and deep shave removal with topical chemotherapeutic agents. For melanoma, we provide diagnosis and refer to the top cancer centers in New York City for treatment.
We follow you through the entire process — biopsy, diagnosis, treatment plan, and follow-up. When excision or Mohs surgery is the right call, we coordinate referral to a fellowship-trained specialist.

Access Cyst Drainage
For inflamed or painful epidermoid cysts, we perform in-office incision and drainage to relieve pressure and discomfort quickly. When full excision is needed, we coordinate referral.
